Equate hemorrhoidal ointment is an over the counter treatment designed for temporary relief of hemorrhoid related symptoms such as pain, itching, burning and discomfort. It contains mineral oil, petrolatum and phenylephrine HCl, which help soothe irritated tissue and form a protective barrier to reduce further irritation. This hypoallergenic ointment is intended for adult use and may be applied up to four times daily as directed. It is comparable in function to other hemorrhoid treatments like preparation H, which also use similar active ingredients for symptom relief.
